What is a School Psychologist?

School psychologists provide support to promote student academic, behavioral, social, and emotional growth. We collaborate with teachers, parents, support staff, and administrators to improve support strategies, create safe and supportive learning environments for all students, and strengthen connections between home and school.

About Me
I am an educationally licensed School Psychologist in Illinois, and nationally certified by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).  I graduated from Loyola University Chicago with Bachelors of Science degrees in Psychology and Human Services. I continued on to earn my Masters of Education in Educational Psychology, and my Education Specialist degree in School Psychology from Loyola University Chicago.

In the school setting, I am a key member of the Building Problem Solving and Special Education Teams. I also participate in the Building Social Emotional Learning (SEL) team, Building Academic Intervention Team, and School Improvement Team. I regularly collaborate with students, special education and general education staff, parents, and outside service providers to problem solve and support students’ educational needs.  I facilitate social emotional learning services using evidenced-based curricula and strategies for students with emotion regulation, attention, social skills, and/or social-communication needs. In particular, I have experience working with students with disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Learning Disabilities, and Language Impairments.

Outside of the school setting, I can be found exploring the northwest suburbs with my husband, practicing yoga, or watching HGTV. I also spend my time as a clinical specialist, servicing children with social pragmatic and social emotional needs, at a private practice in the northern suburbs.

I grew up in Mount Prospect, so this community certainly has a very special place in my heart!
